Our third day in London was a little less eventful than the others. In the morning we got some Starbucks pastries and ate them under Big Ben overlooking the Thames. After that we went to church at Westminster Abby. It’s a beautiful building, but it’s a little strange to have church on top of people’s graves. You bow your head to pray and just before you close your eyes, you notice "Here lies so and so..." and the dates they lived. It is so strange.
In the afternoon we spend lots of time at The National Gallery. It is a huge art gallery with paintings from pretty much any famous artist up to the 20th century. Some of the paintings are absolutely huge. It is interesting to see how painting has changed from the 1500’s through the 1800’s. We especially enjoyed the different Monet’s and Van Gogh’s, specifically Monet’s “Wheatfield with Cypress” and Van Gogh’s “Sunflowers”.
Our evening was completely uneventful. Since we were so tired we just relaxed in the hotel.
